The introduction of our latest Dual Source Computed Tomography Scanners, the first of those equipments installed in Portugal - Siemens Somatom Definition FLASH and DRIVE with dual source and dual detector, allows the acquisition of 256 images in 0.28 seconds, using a very reduced radiation dose, much lower than the one used, namely in the equipment of 64 slices, generally used for cardiac evaluation, namely of the coronary arteries. We associate to our screening programme the latest technology in magnetic resonance 3 tesla for the diagnosis of cerebral, prostatic and mammary pathologies.

This type of preventive examination is widely used in other countries, especially in the United States. The concept of Scan for Life is intended to evaluate the target vital organs, depending on the risk factors of each individual, thus not including the non-specific and unsuitable scheme of the "all body CT".

PREVENTIVE IMAGE

For the first time in the history of medicine, through multi-detector technology, with dual source and state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging 3 tesla, it is possible, in a non-invasive way and with a proven diagnostic capacity, to perform pathological screening for prevention of cardiac disease, neoplasia and stroke. It should be noted that with our dual source CT equipment - 256 slices - the radiation dose is very low (about 10 times less than the dose of CT equipment with 64 slices). The data obtained in these latest generation equipments are treated in high-level workstations, which, using CAD systems and three-dimensional visualization, results in detailed and very rigorous information.

The set of these exams with this type of equipment is the best choice for the imaging study of the human body through non-invasive angiography of the heart, brain and neck vessels, virtual CT colonoscopy as well as evaluation of the remaining organs and bony structures of the thorax, abdomen and pelvis, the study of the prostate in the case of the man and the breast in the case of the woman.
