Computed Axial Tomography of Intervention - Thoracentesis

The thoracentesis for collection of pleural fluid is a surgical procedure with low morbidity, of low cost which provides great diagnostic efficiency.

It is performed to determine which pleural effusions require clinical laboratory investigation.

 PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN:

  • The patient should fast 4 hours prior to the exam, bring the coagulation study and usual medication.

  • If you are taking any anticoagulant and / or antiplatelet medication you should inform us by the time the exam is scheduled.
