Check Up - Cardio-Thoracic Check Up - Scan for Life

For the vast majority of executive persons, men or women, their lifestyle carries a great stress with an increased cardiovascular risk.

In this type of individuals, the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) can increase about 200%.

In addition, many of these persons have multiple risk factors:

  • Smoking;
  • Wrong eating habits;
  • Increased body weight;
  • Long working hours and no time for regular exercise;
  • Constant Stress.

All these situations can contribute to coronary artery disease, hypertension and diabetes type II.

Associated to this, due to their lifestyle working long hours,  they do not regularly carry out adequate medical supervision. In these cases, we believe that screening with our Scan for Life Programme,  namely Cardio-Thoracic Check Up, is perfectly adequate.

Our Scan for Life concept takes advantage of the state-of-the-art medical imaging technologies for the screening of early stages of coronary artery disease and lung pathology, long before the first symptoms appear, so that effective treatment is possible.

The introduction of our latest Dual Source Computed Tomography Scanners, the first of those equipments installed in Portugal - Siemens Somatom Definition FLASH and DRIVE with dual source and dual detector, allows the acquisition of 256 images in 0.28 seconds, using an ultra-reduced radiation dose, much lower than the one often used in these kind of examinations, namely with 64-slices equipments, generally used for coronary artery evaluation.

This type of preventive examination is widely used in other countries, especially in the United States. The concept of Scan for Life is intended to evaluate target vital organs, depending on the risk factors of each individual, thus not including the non-specific and unsuitable scheme of the "all body CT".
